Artist Bio
Lynn Cunningham Brown lives and works out of her studio at her Santa Barbara home. She came to art from corporate life where she practiced the art of communications, public affairs and entertainment for Fortune 500 companies. Now active in the local community, art is a major part of her life.
Brown was educated in Dallas, Texas, at the Hockaday School, graduated Duke University in 1980 and holds a Masters of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University, 1989. She held leadership positions for such companies as Texas Instruments, Raytheon, Greyhound and Waste Management.
Her mixed media art uses taxidermy or bone from animals and repurposes them to give them a new meaning. Under her hands they become creatures that are encrusted with studs, nails, feathers, rhinestones and sequins to engage the eye and spark the imagination. Glittering, banging and fluttering to life her pieces are evocative of rocking and rolling, dancing on the ocean, or soaring through the sky.
Her work is found in collections internationally.
Artist Statement
I’m bringing dead things back to life in my own way in a style that is sometimes unexpected and always playful. If it stands still long enough, I am sure to encrust it.
